Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many treatments are required?

A: The number of treatments needed vary with each client. Treatment sessions can range from 15 minutes to more than 1 hour depending on the area being treated. Factors such as hair growth cycles, the quantity and structure of hair presented, previous use of temporary hair removal, hormone function, stress, medications or heredity influence the treatment plan for each client.

Q: How does electrolysis work?

A: Electrolysis is the passing of an electrical current through a hair follicle, which damages the follicle and prevents new hair growth.

Q: What is the normal growth cycle of a hair?

A: There are 3 life cycles of hair. Anagen is the active growth stage. The hair is still attached to the blood (food) supply. Catagen is the transition stage. The hair is starting to detach from the blood supply. The final stage of the hair growth is Telegen. The hair is no longer being fed and is resting until it sheds.  Electrolysis has the best results when hair is being treated during the Anagen active growth stage. Targeting the root during this stage destroys the cells responsible for the hair growth.

Q: Does Electrolysis have any side effects on the skin?

A: Immediately following treatment, there may be slight redness but it can vary with each client.  We will provide you with post treatment instructions.

Q: Can unwanted hair be removed from anywhere on the body?

A: Electrolysis is effective on all skin types and hair types. It works on face or body. We treat eyebrows, upper lip, lower lip, chin, jaw line, breasts, underarms, legs, bikini and back.
